2 dollars 1969 to 1975 - Canada Banknote

Issued in August 1975 and printed by BABN, the $2 note features an Inuit hunting scene based on a photo taken by Doug Wilkinson at Pond Inlet on North Baffin Island. Engraved by C. Gordon Yorke, the vignette was originally intended for the back of the $100 note.

On June 28 2014, this banknote sold for $5,664 CAD and was described as:

Fine+. Two tiny 1/8" tears at lower left margin. The third example and the 'Finest' surviving example known.

2 dollars 1974 - *RD8531999

This banknote sold at Moore's Winter Toronto Auction Sale on February 21, 2013 for $5,015 CAD. It was described as:

Minor small edge splits. One of two known examples with the rare *RD replacement prefix. Until recently, the *RD replacement note was unknown. The example is the second discovered note, and in the approximate same condition as the original discovery note.

This is a banknote that was issued to replace a damaged banknote or a banknote destroyed before being put into circulation. This type of banknote generally have a larger value. For some banknotes, between 1954 and 1975, an * added to the prefix to indicate that it's a replacement banknote.
