The dies are missing the chrome plating, not the coins. It chips or flakes off as the dies deteriorate. Therefore, the features appear raised on the coins.
This is the same phenomena as what Hans Zoell used to call "mortar set".

Re: Canadian Mint bag of coin
I just replied to the message you sent me (via eBay). Apologies to the belated reply, as I have been away from home for a good part of the last three months.

Re: $2 canadien full brockage
It is a fake error.
Look at the maple leaf at the top - it is the exact same obverse die as the “camel toe counterfeits”.
Obviously made to order for someone, with the intent to deceive.

Damaged coin. The collar die would not permit the metal to move outside of the rim.

Re: 1967 Canada Centennial Proof Set Gold Plated set
These were one of many aftermarket "1967 sets" that were sold where entrepreneurs made a buck selling souvenir-related stuff. I bought one like this, complete with a cool paper envelope, for about $75 in 2020. I have seen these pop up at coin shops now and and again.

Re: Looking for help in Montreal
The best way to sell a collection, is to other collectors. Have you thought of consigning the collection to auction?? Coin and paper money values realized/hammered have been very strong in recent auctions, often exceeding auction estimates. Paper money has been red hot. You have a couple of options ...

Nice snag. Only 1000 coins were counterstamped.

Re: Does PGCS grade Canadian varieties?
Well I’m fairly confused by the myriad of answers coming from all sorts of directions. I didn’t find any way to edit my original post but my coin is actually a 1964 dot. This is very much discussed here on this website and there’s numerous examples of the coin being sold on ebay. Obviously I don’t ...

Re: 1997 Struck Through? Damage?
Definitely legit. 1997 was the first year of the copper-plated zinc 1-cent coins, so this is definitely a strike-through error.

Re: 1980 clipped with partial double rim & date
Both effects you see with the rim were caused by a slightly misaligned reverse die.

Re: Mint Error ??
Definitely legit. You see a good number of these with modern Canadian 10-cent strikes, for some reason. It is impossible to fake this kind of error, because these coins are multi-ply plated, and you would see the various plating layers (especially the copper layer) and the bare steel core. Nice coin...

Re: Selling Canadian coinage Errors and Varieties
It can be tricky trying to sell entire niche collections. The tendency to 'flood' a niche market is very real, and that happened several years ago with a couple dozen Canadian error lots in the 2014 ANA auction and the auctioning off of the Robert Krill collection by Chuck Moore in following year. M...

Re: Mule or planchet error?
Definitely a damaged coin, but these sometimes make cool conversation pieces. I use these when teaching collectors about the 'third die', the collar die and how to differentiate fabrications from real errors.
