Man-made or ?

Hi all, Need an opinion or two - are these 2 nickels a result of abuse or are they legitimate mint mistakes ! The first one is a 1980, the other 2 are 1975. Re: Difference between AU-50 and MS-60

Well, I understand the principle of the AU vs MS - thanks for explaining that. While I now understand the principle, I still can't wrap my head around the idea that a coin that's in worst "looking" condition to the eye can be of more value - that to me goes against the majority of conditio...

Re: Difference between AU-50 and MS-60

Wow - So ; here's the thing ......... I sell on Ebay. Suppose I came across a Canada 2000-P nickel with a couple small surface scratches but lots of luster etc. AND , suppose I was a shyster as well , and so listed it as a MS-60 grade coin - and the picture looked the part - I could potentially get ...

Re: Difference between AU-50 and MS-60

That's kinda what I wondered - guess where I,m messed up is that I have some 1960's and 70's nickels that under the 16X glass they aren't flawless, but almost ; except that I got them in change so obviously they are circulated.
So does uncirculated mean they have to be mint sealed or contained ?

Difference between AU-50 and MS-60

Hi there,
Could someone explain to me the visible difference between these 2 grades. Why would the description in this website say that a MS-60 is "ugly" - that almost says to me that an AU-50 coin looks more appealing .
Is this the case ?

Re: Near and far 1922 nickel

Well ( whisper) ( it's my 90 year old mother who I'm selling them for ) !!

But ya - it's so neat to see their reaction when they thought getting $0.20 for a nickel was a whopping 400 % and then you tell them you got $1.25 for it !! . Makes the research and effort all worth it .........

Re: Near and far 1922 nickel

Ya - I tried comparing with the 2 pictures that this website shows and of the 8 nickels I have it seems like 3 or 4 all have a different thickness of 'S' , so that made them look different distances from the rim . ( In my eyes anyway.....). I did list them on Ebay, and I also noticed there are a few...

1992 British Columbia Quarter

Hi, Has anyone ever come across one of these quarters showing a river with blue coloring ? I wondered if it was simply a blue pen mark, but I put some wd-40 on it and it didn't touch it. I am tempted to scrub it, but don't want to in-case it actually is something? Dave http://www.coinsandcanada.com/...

1943 nickels - various die cracks, etc.

Hi Everyone - I am new to this forum, and I am looking for input on rough values of error coins - specifically 1943, 44, and 45 victory nickels. I have a total of 30 nickels, I would say averaging VF-20 condition, and the majority have die cracks, some with 2 or 3 , and also couple with cuds. What I...
