This coin should not exist?

I have come across a 1985 Canadian Dollar (Specimen). The coin is from a double dollar set and is absolutely flawless yet the word "CANADA" is doubled. From my understanding, this should not happen on specimen coins? Attached are two photos. Note the doubling of the letters (Sorry my photo...

1946 nickel - double 6, double 4 and die break?

I am relatively new to coin collecting and have been slowly going through my inheritance. I became familiar with the 1946 Canadian nickel with the 6/6 variety and actually contributed a photo to this forum here at m After subsequent review, I noticed that in addition to the double 6, the 4 also seem...

Re: 1930 Nickel

post photos please and perhaps I can find the value for you. I am not an expert but have learned a lot on the subject through experience. Wikipedia and Google can usually give you a good clue. If you also search eBay, you will find curent market prices although I've noticed a lot of eBay people seem...

Re: 1930 Nickel

There is a grading guide on this forum. For the coin in questions, check out this link: m You could also post photos here of both sides (hi res please) and I am sure others will jump in to offer a close opinion. Once you know this, the price can be checked out by a number of price guides. The one on...

1967 Gold $20 coin in flawless shape

I recently came into possession of a 1967 Canadian $20 gold coin. Does anyone know if the numismatic value of a flawless coin is worth more than the bullion price? I can send photos if desired. I think it has over 5.288 OZ of gold yet no scratches are visible under 10X magnification.

72 Very old British 3P coins for sale (1869-1935

I have 72 British 3 Pence coins ranging in dates from 1869 to 1935 with most in the 1900-1919 range. A large percentage of them have been in Canada since 1923 and hence out of circulation. The remainder came over in 1938, prior to WW2. I am going to offer them to a UK board but wanted to know if the...

1952 quarter HR vs LR?

I have over 60 1952 quarters in grades varying from VG-EF. I noticed on this page there is a distinction between high and low relief varieties. Can anyone shed more light on this or perhaps point out some photos? I searched but could not find any. If I find both kinds, I'll contribute some photos ba...

Re: Errors and Varieties

I am in no way an expert, but what I have observed is that the numismatic society's desires are the most important thing. I find it strange that one error will be very sought after while another error, perhaps even rarer, will be non-desired. I haven't yet observed any patterns in details but the di...

Blue Whitman Coin Folders for sale (vintage ~1960's)

I have inherited a large collection of coins and have moved several of them into 2X2 flips. They were originally stored in the Blue Whitman Coin Collection Folders (have photos if you are interested). Here is what I have for sale (or trade for good quality silver). Canadian Large Cent 1858 - 1920 (X...

Canadian Tokens?

I found these two coins while going through a huge collection I have inherited. Does anyone know any additional background on what these are and what they may be worth? More importantly, is it worth anything to any of you? http://www.22ndcenturyofficial.com/coins/1842_Canadian_Tokens.png
