Re: 1935 Silver Dollar for grading

I'll say VG-8 and heavily cleaned. Not worth much over scrap and scrap would be for a lighter weight example.

The '22 about $25 Cdn, the '24 about $10 Cdn and the others from 50 cents to a few bucks.

Re: Oxidization?

Don't use a needle to try to remove any of the stuff. Use a hawthorn or rose thorn, as they won't scratch the coins as much. I can only guess that the original owner of the coins had tried to rinse/wash some of them to remove hand gunk. If they were put away, even damp, then that's where the problem...

Re: Oxidization?

What were your "coin wrappers" made of? paper? pliofilm? Plastic? If they were stored in anything that was open to the free circulating oil and there was any humidity, then they will tone. Anything air-tight and low humidity are the best.

Re: Any Info on this set of Provincial coins?

I'm sorry for calling them coins .... they have no monetary value. I was referencing the wrong stuff in my Charltons. Please delete my entire post above, as I was looking at something entirely different and mixed them up. They look like medals/medallions/tokens with the Provincial flowers on the bac...

Re: Any Info on this set of Provincial coins?

I have deleted my post on the medallions or medals. They celebrated the 125th anniversary I think, but were not coins. Sorry!

Need some better pictures but, since Canada is gone as well as the tops of the sails I say a strike through of something, maybe cloth, maybe metal.

Re: Grades

No, the grade (for wear and/or marks) is 67 and the SP says that it was a specimen strike. Meaning it was specially, carefully struck using specially prepared dies. Specimens never went into someone's pocket or landed on a bar or counter for a beer. They were normally put in special holders and then...

Re: Damaged 1884

You have an Obv 2, well worn, and someone tried to put a hole in it, and even failed at making a good hole. You can see in Gratia that the tool squiggled all over the place taking out the lettering. Keep it as an oddity but it's really valueless.

Re: planchet error?

There are 2 people on this site who would give you an honest price for the coin, if you plan to sell it. They are error specialists. Yes, an appraiser would give you a price, but it might cost you. JUst let folks on here that you would be willing to sell. I don't know about certifying it and the cos...
