Re: Canadian Coin Collection For Sale
Where are you located? Do you have access to a major city? Before you begin this evolution, I would suggest that you pick up a Charltons or Haxby/Wiley guide so that you know which items are worth a nice premium, but DO NOT believe in the prices in books/guides. There are a few coin sites that offer...

Go back one click to the forum page and then scroll all the way to the bottom and click on "members". At the top of the list is lightw4re and he is the site admin. He can tell you what you need to do or he may enter it himself. As you scroll the Coins and Canada site look for any post that has "admi...

Re: 2-1992 Canada Large Cents
The BEST marker for the '92's is the long cross-bar verticals on the E's. All Obv 3's have complete N's. And the doubled creased chin/throat is always a give-away. This Obv is also known as the "mumps portrait" because it looks like she has the mumps, a common disease in the mid-late 20th centuries ...

Re: 1947 (1947) Obv. New Die Crack
When I said that a D/C was an "error" above in my post, I meant that the die crack was not a "variety". Do not take my statement as an "error" to be literal. It just means that it was struck with faulty equipment. Not every anomaly to be found on a coin is an "error" that needs to be documented or e...

Re: 1936 Canadian Penny
Too much reflection and shadowing to get a close grade. For "wear" only, it looks UNC or very close to it. Need better straight-on pics with no tilting and light from more than one direction. If you have that question, it is NOT a dot 36.

Re: 1884 large cent what error is this
Could be a grease filled die. I looked through about 80 1884's and saw nothing close. It's not a mint "error" per se nor do I think that it is PMD.

Re: St Andrews trade dollars
Aren't these just merchant tokens to advertise their town or stores in NB? There is a series of them? Or do they just strike a few thousands new every year a little different?

Re: 1947 (1947) Obv. New Die Crack
CoinsandCanada is not the most accurate place to include or exclude from your searches. A die crack is an error and they actually tend to reduce the price. D/C's are very common, especially during and just after the war years, because steel was being used for the effort. Die cracks happen at a time ...

Re: Two questions re Charlton catalogue (French) 2021
If the idea is for them to increase in value rather than historical significance, then uncirc coins may be the way to go. The problem is that the mint churns out circulating coinage by the multimillions and multimillion mintages carry little or no premium for decades. I prefer the historical portion...

Re: Two questions re Charlton catalogue (French) 2021
All toonies are quite common, except for a very few special varieties. What does your coin look like? A 63 coin is relatively ding/scratch free and must be uncirculated and showing absolutely no wear or lack of luster. If you got the coin out of change, then it isn't uncirculated and can get NO 60+ ...

Re: Two questions re Charlton catalogue (French) 2021
Yes, most circulated coins are in the 60-61 range. The higher the number the fewer dings & more luster.
