Re: 1975 Canadian 1 Cent All Zinc?
Is it plated or washed with something, like maybe chrome? Have you tried to gently scratch the edge of the coin to see if it's solid?

Maybe someone will chime in. 50 cents and dollars not my ball game.

Re: 1938 5 Cent Grade Assessment?
The photos not clear enough for me to accurately grade, but I'll say F-15 from my screen.

Re: How are errors coins recognized by grading companys
As I posted above, you need to include, with your submittal, which error or variety that you want included. You should also note the reference or research that you think applies, such as Charlton, CNJ, PCGS registry, Trends, or any other example that shows that it been formally recignized. For most ...

Re: Coins from 1969 and earlier
You need to separate your coins, except the one and 5 cents into those 1919 and before, because those are .925 silver and those before 1968 are .800 silver. For coins from 1920 to 1967, each face dollar, of whatever denomination, has .600 troy ounces of silver. Just take the scrap silver price and m...

Re: FOR SALE: 8 UNC 1954 “million” $1 Bank Notes
I'm not a note collector, but I've never seen a bunch of bills like that. Someone will be chomping at the bit. Great notes!

Re: How are errors coins recognized by grading companys
A grader spends very very little time looking at any coin. At one time, people who worked there said that it was between 15-25 seconds. When submitting a coin to include the error, you need to note on the application which error or variety that is there. TPG graders normally are only looking at the ...

Re: How much is a 1881 penny worth?
If it isn't a typo and IS a large cent, there are many varieties of the 1881. You would have to post a photo, to be able to get an answer, once the grade and variety is ID'd.

Re: Help grading - New Member
I wouldn't say anything about considering them as MS-65's. They could just be 60 or so. You can't tell without grading them. As I said, do not take any "book" price as what they may be worth. For P/L coins, they may only be worth 20% of what's listed. A book price and "value" are 2 different entitie...

Re: Help grading - New Member
Without seeing coins in hand, it is nearly impossible to grade a coin between 63-66 accurately. Even though prooflike and struck on good dies, it can get slight mars, scratches and dings just coming out of the machinery, them through the counters and into the bin to be packaged. I, personally, can't...

Re: Help grading - New Member
PL coins will always sell for much much less than circulated coins in the same "apparent" condition. EVERY coin that the RCM issued in the plastic will be 65 or a little above and every one of them went into a drawer or box or album untouched by hands. As such, there are many more of the coins than ...

Wow! I need my eyes checked! I had just glanced at an old Trends and saw 1898 (G-4 at $60) as the 1890. My mistake and agree it's a real keeper.

Re: 1890 50 cent coin
The coin can't increase or decrease in value due to the wear. It is scrap silver and, with that much wear, you'd probably get on about 80% of scrap silver price. I have corrected the post I made here. I had cut and pasted a 50 cent post that I made on another site, which was for .800 Ag, not .925. I...
