1865 Newf large cent 6/6

Does anyone know someone who collects Newf stuff and would be interested in a 1865 doubled 6 in VF-20?

Looks like MD, not a double date. And struck through a metal sliver/piece that stayed

Re: I think i might have found a gold mine

Were the prices in US or Canadian dollars? Scrap silver price for Canadian coinage is a little less than $20 Canadian so that would be for each face dollar with next to no wear. If you sold to a dealer, you would get $16-17 Cdn. If they were US coins, they would be worth more. If you paid Canadian $...

Re: 1979 double date with doubling on obverse

I agree MD. If you blow up a photo large enough, you'll see all these items that are really just within normal tolerance but not 100% tru. Not and error ov variety or DP.

Re: New variation 1944 not listed.

It's not a variety or any die doubling. It is machine/mechanical doubling caused by the die loose in the holder. The photos aren't clear enough, but may be some die deterioration doubling as well. A keeper but not worth much of anything.

Re: 1967 Rabbit Nickel variation

It's machine or die deterioration doubling, not die doubling. The Mint's QA program sucks.

Re: A little help please

Is there a thin coating on it? It looks like some of the lettering is fainter than the rest. DFidn't leave the mint that way.

It just looks to me like the Vicky grunge that someone didn't get all out when they tried to clean it. Is it hard like metal or like the remaining grit/grunge around it? Whatever it is, it's in the lower loop of the first one as well and light colored.

Re: 1979 canadian coin

It's not a "double or doubled die". It's the result of die deterioration doubling from the die wearing out. It's not a variety or an error and adds no value to the coin.

Re: Here is an odd 1937

It looks like the same type of depression is evident from the anter rack on the left and the denticles. I think that the coin had been struck with a non-sharp ridged element, probably with a hammer on top of leather, with the Obverse also shielded by leather, so nothing appears there. PMD
