I don't know about any 1965 dot penny. Dots are considered errors 99% of the time. Not varieties.

tin is often used to silver-plate coins. just a dip and it does the trick

what's the weight? looks like dipped. not a wrong planchet

Errors/varieties are first discovered by collectors. When well known and enough appeal to them, authors/editors might add them to their price guide. But it always comes from the "community".
