Re: need info
Well, NORTHIAM, is a village/parish by Sussex, England. Just wanted to know if anywhere else on the coin pointed to England. There were some Hodges merchants/workers in that village during that time period. No pics?

Re: Does ICCS list varieties
I think that you have to initially request that the variety be listed when you submit it and pay extra to acknowledge the variety. Unless ICCS has changed their workings, they will normally list a "recognized" variety from a respected source if so asked. Maybe they've changed. A variety "listed" on ...

Re: 1969-1987 50cent cad pieces
They have no silver, so they are just face value, unless someone wants to buy them from you for a little mark-up. I used to use them in parking meters, where they thought that they were loonies, but new machines came out so no more.

Re: coinsandcanada.com price guide
Yes, the mint had PL until1967/8 from what I have read. However, the TPG's don't stop at that year, even those 3-4 that are thought of as top tier. And collectors and Ebay vendors or auctioneers misuse the term daily for the benefit of nice-sounding words. Many people buy "words" and "numbers" rathe...

Re: coinsandcanada.com price guide
From what I have heard, the top tier TPG's do not use or recognize the term proof-like or the PL designation. The mint also does not use the term or designation of "proof-like". There was a lengthy discussion on here. Take it for what it is worth: http://coinsandcanada.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t...

Re: coinsandcanada.com price guide
Just because there are no coins listed with that exact title, does not mean that it's scarce. It may be so cheap that it's not worth spending the money to get it certified. For most coins, it needs to be worth (what someone would pay, not a book price) at least $100. It you have a 1998 cent that wil...

Re: One of a kind error?
Yes, it is called a "strike-thru" and could be a thread from a rag or a metal shaving or something similar. It was stiff enough that it didn't get forced down into the design, since it doesn't show there. Nice find and keep it as an oddity. That doesn't add any value that the coin has, which is 1 ce...

Don't believe what you see in CaC. Check Ebay sold prices. Only use CaC as one of 3-4 references. They look like "dreamer" prices.
