Re: Victorian Large Cent Mintages

Hi Bill, I've followed Rob's research closely and read all his books and studies except for the 1858 book. Starting about 2 yrs ago I commenced die studies on the C4 obverse years. I re-investigated the 1892 C4 and have found additional details about certain dies that is not included in his original...

Re: Victorian Large Cent Mintages

Thanks for your thoughts Gerry. That is a distinct possibility but may not have been enough to negate other actions. My research, still in the early stages, has not confirmed hoarding. In fact, empirical data so far is significantly under-reporting the documented mintages, leading me to the possible...

Re: Victorian Large Cent Mintages

Thanks for your input Bill. I'm seeking another somewhat related opinion. Of the 51 million (give or take) Victorian large cents minted how many do you think survived the melting pot? Does 3% seem reasonable, leaving 1.5 million extant or could it be less? An answer probably requires some speculatio...

Victorian Large Cent Mintages

This is a question for anyone with significant large cent experience that may have suspicions about subject. This is purely a survey to gauge other collector's beliefs. Q. Based on your experience, is/are there any particular year(s) where you feel or believe the documented mintage is likely erroneo...

Re: TPG Fraud of the Month - November

You are correct 'Inept' is probably a better word, as I used in previous posts but fraud is not entirely inaccurate either. Fraud is a combined act of stealing and lying. I sometimes wonder if NGC is purposely giving a bad 'opinion' for the client's benefit (for a bonus fee perhaps), thus the grade ...

Re: TPG Fraud of the Month - November

Bill, it was purely a TPG judgement that is why I titled it 'TPG Fraud' and not 'Seller Fraud'. That being said, if it was my listing I would most definitely make my opinion known about the 'true' grade but I would be tempted to crack that coin out of its holder before listing. It wouldn't be the fi...

Re: Chinese reilcas are back - 1932

I spoke too soon. 1888, 1890H, 1894, 1921, 1870, 1872H now listed as well as many other rarities of other denominations. Reported seller to eBay however I suspect eBay will be slow to act if at all because of the way the listing is described. Seller admits they are copies and tells buyer to not buy ...

Chinese reilcas are back - 1932

Just a matter of time before 1890H turns up. Rare fakes of other denominations also listed.

Pathetic losers trying to make a buck.

Second seller listing same fakes.

Likely same seller with a different eBay handle. So disappointing.

Chinese Replicas are back - 1875H, 1884, 1889, 1893

https://www.ebay.com/itm/175377752900?hash=item28d5542344:g:fYIAAOSwM4Fi8cv3 Reported this sellers listings to eBay. Hopefully they will take prompt action. Unfortunately a few buyers have already purchased some of these today. Very much dislike that this is happening once again. Stay vigilant. RD

Re: Relevance ?

Ok thanks, but the Arms have evolved numerous times since Confederation. I think they should have used Elizabeth II instead of her father. Using George VI instead of George V certainly doesn't make any sense. I think I would have clued in that it was some type of commemorative issue if George V had ...

Re: More evidence of inept TPG - NGC

I was going to as well but decided to wait until other members had a chance to view the listing and perhaps comment.
