Obverse Test - Which One is It???
Here's a test for the 5c collectors. Below are images of two different 5c Victorian coins. The images are of uncirculated coins to make ID'ing them easier. Worn coins of course present a much bigger challenge. Your test: Determine if one or two different obverses present, and which one(s) is it. Let...

Unique because for all the $2 coins that have been minted so far (about 600,000,000), this is the first I have seen with the core hole so far off center, and with the core missing. So this almost never occurs. Second, even if there are another 10 coins of this same year with the core hole this far o...

A few 1891 5c varieties, starting with an A/V...
Below is are images of a few nice 1891 5c varieties starting with a A/V. At first glance, the A/V appears like a plugged V. But with a microscope its easy to see the doubling at the top of the V (which is sort of visible in the blow-up of the V). Not shown is the Double T in GRATIA. There is also a ...

Interesting. If the double/blundered N is the same in all 6 coins, and if at least two of them have a different reverse, then that should indicate a reverse die was changed while the obverse was still in use. One reverse with both stems missing and one reverse with both stems intact. I have another ...

Nice! The first and third images are a large 2, the middle image is the small 2. A large 2 with full stems or a large 2 with no stems are the harder ones to find (your 1st and 3rd images in the previous posting). The large 2 with the missing right stem is the most common. How does the double N in th...
