Some body gave me that 25 years ago. This cents look to be gold plated... Any body have more information about that? Who put that cent in plastic? Is it a rare item? I'll take any information about it!

Probably a unique item. Hard to tell the value of that kind of thing.

Value = the price a buyer is ready to pay for it

These lucite (acrylic) blocks with coins became popular during the advent of "spaceage plastic" technology which dates to about the date of the coins. I remember seeing them sold all over the place as desk toys (paperweights). IIRC some came as pen holders. You can still buy them. A friend of mine built a coffee table in high school, the top of which was foreign coins encapsulated in lucite framed in wood. I remember watching him arrange and then press the coins into the liquid bed and not liking the idea of essentially throwing away good metal—mostly Australian IIRC—but it all looked quite good in the end.

Cheers

Thanks a lot Verdigris for the information.

It's interesting... I follow the link you put and yes we can buy it but we must order a big qty.

I don't plan to put any coins in a block like that, I prefer to have it in my hand. But I understand the coin will stay like a new for ever... ;)
