Where can I find near perfect examples of Elizabeth II

Post by Hot Brass » Sat Apr 13, 2013 6:20 am

Hi: I am trying to find what an actual coin with the QEII 1953-1967 effigy is supposed to look like, specifically the Canadian dollars.I did a search for a MS-67 grade and saw a few for around $2k which had significant wear, particularly around the laurel leaves area.
I am trying to find a 'perfect" pic of one,as to compare, but seems all I can find no matter the grade, all have this wear at this spot!?.
Should I be searching for maybe a "proof" sample to see what the coin looked like right off the press? Thanks,Hot Brass

*EDIT* I went to the Bank of Canada Currency Collection Museum and found this coin, which I am guessing would have zero wear, which shows some parts of the leaves to be not well defined (raised).Would this example be the "best" I will find anywhere?
http://www.currencymuseum.ca/collection ... ollar-1964 Thanks
