Magnetic and non-magnetic cents "in the wild"

Post by Immy » Sat Oct 25, 2014 8:49 pm

Last day of a local coin show tomorrow and I'm plopping myself in front of dealer's bowl of modern cents armed with a magnet.

Has anyone found some of the atypical mag (06, 06P, 09, 10, 11, 12) or non-mag cents (06P, 07, 08) in circulation, when they circulated that is. Curious what my chances are.

Whew!

Went thru about 2,000 modern Canadian cents and found three keepers (2009, 2011 & 2012) all thanks to my trusty magnet. Plenty of magnetic 09's, they're easily the most common, very few 2010's of any kind, rather strange. Of course I used coinsandcanada's checklist as my guide. Also had a great conversation with the seller about Canadian coins in general.

Might I suggest a more ordered look to the 2006 cent listings? Something like this is more reader friendly: :)

2006 - Magnetic
2006 - Non magnetic
2006 - P - Magnetic
2006 - P - Non magnetic
2006 - RCM Logo - Magnetic
2006 - RCM Logo - Non magnetic

Another editorial note. :)

In the dollar coin section, there's no listing for 2006 RCM.
