confused about the value 1966 canadian quarters

Postby Janice » Thu Nov 24, 2016 10:16 pm

Hello one and all,

I am very new to this board and coin world. I have over 400 1966 Canadian quarters which I am looking to sell. I did my own search and have gotten so confused with so many different values. From a local coin collector saying it was just $2.50 per coin last week and it just today went down to $2.00.

I don't need to sell them right away and can wait for a fair price or when the silver goes back up.

On this site it states "25 cents 1966 prices and values"

The minimum value of a 25 cents 1966 is $3.83, due to the value of the metal that composes it.

From what I take from this is that it's $3.83 ... am I missing something? Is this site updated daily?

Any input is greatly appreciated as to where I get the true value. There isn't any that have a collecting value as they are all pretty run down.

Thanks so much,

Janice

Melt value is around $2.50US right now (3,35$CAN)

If your local store is in Canada, the buyer want to make large profit.

A dollar face value of 1920-67 coinage (.800 silver) is equal to .6 oz Au. Look up the posted price for silver and that's usually listed in US dollars. If the coins are worn, you will get 80% or so of scrap silver price, maybe less if real worn. If they are UNC, then expect about 90%. IE, you have 4 quarters equals .6 ozs. If silver is $15 per oz, you have $9 or $2.25 US each FULL value. You can expect 80% or a little more as scrap. They have no collector value, so watch the silver prices.
