1965 Canadian Dollar

Postby home2013 » Tue Feb 07, 2017 9:31 pm

My father collected coins he was 13 years old and since his death at 78 last year, my mom is looking to sell off some of his collection. We have found (1) item in particular. It is a box from Harry J Forman Inc. He purchased these in Oct of 1965. There are (4) $20 rolls. Two are labelled Canada 1965 Blunt 5 Sm bead. The other (2) are labelled Canada 1965 Pointed Sm Bead. He has many US proof sets from 1960-1985 plus much more. We are most interested in finding the best avenue to sell the Canadian coins. Would appreciate help in finding the best way to sell them either to a serious collector or looking for a dealer that would auction the coins. The Canadian dollars have not been touched. They are still in their original packing and the rolls have paper under a card board cap. Any help would be appreciated. Please respond in a private message. Thank you for your time.

Sounds like you have some nice coins to dispose of
It would help if we knew where you are located.

It has been a long time since my original post. However, we do have some nice coins. I am located in Ohio. The biggest question I have has not been answered concerning the coins. I have taken them to a coin dealer with no more than they are worth the melt value only. I am not buying that. These coins have not been touched by human hands and according to the chart on this website, are worth a lot if graded per the MS scale at 65 or 66. I really want to find out what they areas they are in the packing and not visible. If someone could tell me if I would devalue the coins by removing them from the packing from the Canadian Mint in 1965.

We are in the middle of settling the estate ad this is tying up most of our activity.
