1967 Gold $20 coin in flawless shape

Postby VancouverSilver » Thu Jan 12, 2012 11:35 pm

I recently came into possession of a 1967 Canadian $20 gold coin. Does anyone know if the numismatic value of a flawless coin is worth more than the bullion price? I can send photos if desired. I think it has over 5.288 OZ of gold yet no scratches are visible under 10X magnification.

I'm not really sure about it, but I don't think there's a numismatic value for this coin. You can fix the price of this coin with the bullion value.

It is not 5.288 OZ it is .5288 OZ.

The closing price of gold for July the 8th (Saturday) Market closed is 1,611.51. So if I do the math right you would have $852.17 in gold if you were to melt it. If you were to sell it you would not get much more since it is not a rare piece.

Sets have sold for around $850 with all the centennial dollar and quarter so that piece alone if not graded MS or Proof or SP you wont get any more the melt. Possibly less because sets with all the silver which melt would be around $880 melt have sold for $850 in the original cases.
