1960 D Lrg date Lincoln penny - tapered planchet error?
1960 D Lrg date Lincoln penny - tapered planchet error?
Hey just looking for some clarification, these aren’t the greatest pics but could I be mistaking this for pmd? It’s missing a portion of the rim and seems just slightly thinner near the first S in “States” should be. I thought it could be a weak strike but after a little reading the lack of rim made me think it could be a tapered planchet, apparently rolling mill errors were common in the 50’s era wheat cents. Thanks

Can you supply the weight to two decimal points?
A tapered planchet should weigh less than 3.11g.

It weighed in at 3.00g.
I have another 1960’s era cent that is extremely thin, found a video that described it as split before strike planchet error.
The coin is on the thumbnail but it’s the last coin of the video, description starts at 31:40.
