1859 N9 w/ a small DP 9 ??? - Opinions please

Post by Radius88 » Thu Aug 13, 2020 8:18 pm

Hello , I found this 1859 Cent with what looks like maybe a DP 9 that is not pictured on the site. What are your opinions on this coin ? Could it be a hit on the "9" and metal slice fold over ? Or a minor DP9 ? There are so many minor varieties to this date, I wanted to ask the community. Thanks always..

Hard to tell from the photo. To me, it looks like the 9 got hit and there is a little fold-over in the upper right of the gap. Inside the loop, it looks like die chips in the die or slivers of loose metal pressed onto the coin. It's really hard to tell with the photos provided.

If you go to the Haxby web site it looks like it might be: Haxby # PC59-220 71+P9
