1942 Newfoundland 5 cent mint errors

Post by Steve123 » Sun Nov 18, 2012 7:30 pm

Hello:

I have a Newfoundland 5 cent coin with what I believe are quite a few mint errors. There are many of what appear to be die cracks in different areas of the coin plus another error that has been referred to as a "lamination peel". One of the scans has fine circles to show where are the errors are. There is also another die crack through the second "D" of Newfoundland that is not included in a close-up scan.

I would appreciate any feedback on the pics below. There is also another die crack through the second "D" of Newfoundland that is not included.

Is it worth getting this coin appraised?

Thanks! I happened upon it in a lot that I had bought.

Not sure what to do with it. For now, I'll keep it handy and try to find some similar errors to try to establish a value.
