1953 5 cent where the maple leaf ?

Postby mendra » Fri Apr 22, 2016 3:40 pm

Both the obverse and reverse designs for the 1953 5-cent seen in two types: the front was a shoulder, not shoulder Fold Fold-type, while the opposite was the Middle and Far Leaf Leaf varieties. The crossing of the two types (mix front and rear), resulted in two varieties scarce, No Fold Near Leaf shoulder and shoulder Fold Away Leaf. Rare even low-quality, the "mule" varieties is virtually unknown in Mint State. Image

the maple leaf in question is on the reverse side...

at the top it says 5 cents... on either side there is a maple leaf. the maple leaf on the left side is either near or far from the denticles
