It looks like solder.

I agree.
Whatever it is, it wasn't done at the mint. PMD

I dunno, Under magnification the lump on the reverse looks like it was plated the same as the rest of the coin. The obverse lump lost it's plating though...

There is no way that could be plating from the mint.
The planchets (blanks) that the mint strikes these coins from
are plated before being struck. If by some small chance there was
a bit of extra plating on the planchet, it would have been flattened
with the pressure of the strike. The fact that whatever it is fell
of off the other side should tell you that it is PMD.

Could it be a flawed planchet then?

It is definitely post-mint damage. I still think that it looks like solder, as if someone wanted to make a pin or button or somethink ..or just testing to see if the solder stuck.

Alright. I'm just trying to figure out what it could be. I know what solder looks like and this is not it, that's all... No need to get angry...

Thanks for the input Bill. The pin hypothesis sounds interesting only the strike on the coin is really not that good to make jewelry out of it... Anyhow, given it most likely isn't a mint error i'll just put it back into circulation if it doesn't sell.

I agree with both Bill and Coinguy. This is post mint.

It's hard to tell from the pictures and I don't know if it is my imagination, however the blobs almost seem to have a dark greenish black edging.

It almost looks like a dark epoxy glue.

Just my 2 cents worth.

All of it appears to be metal, I tried to scratch it off with my nail but it's not going anywhere, I broke my nail on it. The large obverse lump is definitely metal but the small one is in fact a hole in the coin.
