1945 V Nickel Error ?

Post by BruceTrot » Mon Sep 11, 2023 2:14 pm

Got this nickel way back in the early 80's . Was wondering if this is an error from the chrome plating running when dipped . Not sure, but some think it's rust under the chrome plating. was thinking on sending it out for grading but looking to get more opinions on this first !!

It's rust beneath the surface.
We've seen it many times.
The coins were not dipped in anything, sheets of steel were electroplated with nickel then with chrome before the blanks were punched out.
