I got this 1984 Jacques Cartier nickel coin and found this mark under the 8.Is this from the mint as I have not seen it before and I would like yours or anyone else opinion on it.

It looks like PMD (post-mint damage). There looks to be some more under and to the right of the 4 as well.

Is that common or have i found one of a kind.

PMD means it didn't come out of the mint like that. It has dings or was tampered with. Without seeing it in hand, it's worth a dollar (from the blurry pic only)
