Hello,
I am wondering if there is any other finish of the 1950 Dollars than circulation.
To the best of my information, there were no PL coins produced by the mint. However, I might be wrong.
I have one which was part of a few dollars I purchased, which is extremely Mirror like.
The coin is definitely Not whizzed or polished in any way. Coin has seen ever the most minimal of circulation.
Am trying to upload images.

1950 Canada Silver Dollar
Today is the first day of the rest of my life.
Re: 1950 Canada Silver Dollar
To the best of my knowledge-
There are two different schools of thought on a 1950 PL.
Officially in 1949 & 50, the RCM produced a Business strike, Specimen Dollar and
a BU Dollar for collectors. In 1951 they started minting PL coins.
Unofficially there are some TPG's who believe that PL Dollars were
minted starting in 1949 or 1950. (I have a 49 that I bought as a PL.)
ICCS have several 1950's listed in their population report.
Perhaps they are right. Perhaps they are mistaking a BU for a PL.
There are two sides to this debate.
Because I have one, I like to think that they stared in 1949.
Regardless if yours is BU or PL, it is a beautiful coin.
Looks like it may be SWL as well.
I hope that this wasn't too confusing, but I know of no definitive answer.

Hello Coin Guy,
your take on this is very interesting and I thank you.
Perhaps someone else will have an opinion or know for sure?
Would you send the coin to ICCS or CCCS? or venture towards PCGS?

Hi COINSandWine-
I would also like to hear some other opinions as I'm sure there are some out there.
I don't think anyone can say for sure as even the RCM does not recognise PL Coins
so there would be no help from them.
Also Charlton does not start listing PL Dollars until 1953, so there is another opinion.
