1953 Dollar varieties

Obverse Pair 1953 Dollar
I have been going through my dollar coins and discovered what appears to be an anomaly while comparing the two 1953 SF dollars in my collection. I noticed that the letters on the reverse and the ends of the canoe of one coin appear to be further from the rim than the other and the date numerals look larger or wider particularly the 19.

The same is true for the obverse. . There are differences in some letters. The most obvious difference I can see is the size and spacing of II. It is closer together on one coin. Have I mistakenly confused one of the coins as SF and it should be NSF?

No mistake, they are both SF.
What may be confusing is that one coin has clean fields and the
other has some colouring around the letters making it appear different.
To prove it to yourself on the obverse, increase the size of your
image and draw a line on each side of the "II". You will see there are
5 denticles between the lines on each.
On the reverse, increase the size and measure the distance between
the tip of the canoe and the rim. It is the same on both.
One thing to look for though, is that there is both a FWL and a SWL variety.
I can't tell from those pictures which varieties you have.

Thanks. I see what you mean. I took your advise and enlarged the front portion to check for FWL or SWL. Both appear to be SWL although the right coin is faint. Left coin appears to have A K in front of the canoe above the SWL. See the enlarged photos
