1952,1954 Canadian nickles
Re: 1952,1954 Canadian nickles
I've never been sure how to grade these steel nickels. On the rev, the beaver's rump, tail and head are pretty well the first areas to wear through the chrome to the nickel then to bare steel. On the obverse George's cheek, eyebrow, jaw and hair wear in that order; and the queen, her shoulder and back of head go first.
Maybe someone can offer another opinion but I'd venture to say that the 1954 was an EF and the 1952 an F

Thanks....when you said"Maybe someone can offer another opinion but I'd venture to say that the 1954 was an EF and the 1952 an F",do you mean EF-40 and F-12? Thanks,Hot Brass

Yup, that's right. I'm old school—often just use the letters. Numbers are redundant.
