1890H

Post by rjd65 » Thu Dec 22, 2016 11:09 am

I've been absent for a while. The subject coin was graded by NGC. All I can say is that this is probably a case of an improper grade being assessed to a coin by virtue of its relative rarity. Although as we all know NGC is just plain fraudulent anyway. The pressure to overgrade a rare coin by TPGs in the hope of garnering elevated selling value cannot be underestimated. Coin is VF20.

Well, I can see how it's possible to have it slabbed as a 30. In your original post, I thought that your opinion was an F-15. I think that part of the coin is weakly struck, but the crown wear says to me a 30 on a good day, just like NGC.
