I am trying to determine the value of this coin, and I understand that it depends on the grading, which I know nothing about. Can anyone help with what grading this coin might be assessed?
Thanks

I think that they are at least 60, but have questions. Gold does not tarnish, so I have no idea what those spots are. The $2 coins have also be copied. What is the seller's feedback rating, if on Ebay or what does he sell?

Thanks for the comments. I have no background in coin grading, and was given this coin by my late father who was a banker and had a better handle on this type of thing. Are there recognized institutions that could give me certified rating for the coin?

Yes, there are 3rd party grading companies that will give you an "official" grade. You really can't grade something on a computer screen. You will have to send it to PCGS or NGC across the border to the US, if you live in Canada. It will cost you $40-50 US to have it graded and put in a plastic holder and then you have the expense of sending and insuring the coin across the border through Customs. That will help you be able to sell it. If you don't want to sell it, I wouldn't spend the money to have it graded ..keep it as a gift from your dad. It has a "full retail value of about $800 Cdn(with the black marks) and you could probably sell it for $400 Cdn or so.
