GUnc 1973 1 Dollar bank note

Postby Leedclay » Fri Jul 19, 2013 6:07 pm

Back in 1987, at the age of 8, my father gave me a brand new 1 dollars bill uncirculated. He then explained to me that those where the last off them so he got them brand new at the bank and told me to keep it preciously so I did. 26 years later (that brings me to this morning) the bank note was totally forgot. I didn’t remember about it until this morning when going thru box of old stuff. I found the dollars in a hockey card box nicely protected. It is still in the exact same condition it was 26 years ago when my father gave it to me. Unfolded, with absolutely no defect at all. Even the corners are still sharp and perfect. I was looking at the bank note grading guide and I definitely have a GUnc 1973 Dollar bill. But now the problem is I don’t understand the pricing guide. I know that I have a Crow-Bouey (so I know I don’t own a precious gem). How do I know which one I have? Can you help me on the possible value? Here’s a picture. Thanks for the help.

I was looking at my dollars bill and noticed that the right serial number (the blue one) have a kind of "U" shape. It is not straight. Is this a common error?

Still analysing my bill and notice that the red serial number also had a weird shift but different than the blue one. Notice the three last digits “224" are equally shifted down.

Are those regular due to printing methods or are they considered like errors that makes the bill rarer?

Your "Serial Number Shift" is not enough shifted to had value to your bill.

You can find the value here :
http://www.coinsandcanada.com/bank-notes-prices.php
http://www.coinsandcanada.com/bank-notes-grading.php
http://www.coinsandcanada.com/bank-notes-signatures.php

Everybody kept one of these bills. Usually worth not much.
