New Canadian 50's

Post by Bopper09 » Fri Sep 13, 2013 1:03 am

Hi guys, my first post, but have been on the site for a few years now. Just wondering if there's any value in the new 50's, or if there's any worth keeping? I just got $300 from the bank in sequential serial notes. They look brand new. Wondering if I should keep them. I can post the prefix letters if it's worth keeping them.

I did save 4 $50 consecutive notes issue of 2004 printed in 2008.They are in choice or gem uncirculated (not an expert at grading). If you are buying they are choice if you are selling they are gem.LOL.
The book value is $60 which I doubt I would get selling them. They are Jenkins-Carney FMM Cat No BC-65b.Assuming I can get $55,that is 10% over 5 years or just about the inflation for that peroid.I kept mine because they are beautifull ,not for the profit.
Yours in Choice are $55 .I doubt they will increase drastically in the near future.

I was thinking the same thing, just keeping them because I like them and in perfect shape, wish I would have done that with the 'hockey' $5's. I just wanted to ask if it meant anything with the serial numbers in a row.

Anyway, thanks have a good day

Are there any prefix's on the new 100's, 50's or 20's that are rare and worth saving? Or is it still too soon to know

On the $100 EKC (7.163M-7.164M) up to $600 in Choice Unc.
On the $50 AHV (0.159M-0.160M) up to $400 in Choice Unc.
AHW(5.086M-5.087M) same price
On the $20 I do not have the latest catalogue no data on the $20.

And for your eyes only 3 consecutive hockey $5 but the image do not upload.

I have found the SNR's get a bit more pricey as time goes over the SHEET rep'l ... but they're replacements all the same.. and will command a premium.

If you want some $5 in UNC ... send me a PM...

Perfect, thanks I'll watch out for those. I'm really wishing I would have posted this sooner. I'm pretty sure that I had an ekc $100 2 weeks ago when I was on a quick holiday. But I'm going to pretend it wasn't, I don't remember for absolute sure.

It would still have to fall in that number range...

Hard to find... I don't do too much bill searching with the $100's or $50's I just find it cost too much...

But I love bricking $5's and $10's... the banks hate me... it can sometimes cost a bit... but the searching is a lot of fun and there's always a bit of excitement that makes it all worth it!

cdnpapermoney.com has a very good serial number data base that it's users can contribute to...

If you're really serious about starting to search for replacements I would recommend you join that site and use it's SNDB... The people there running and contributing to the SNDB are the very same ones that the Charlton gets their information from.. so it may be best going right to the source on that one.
