Question about scanned coins on the grading pages

Post by pocoDan » Mon Jan 25, 2016 1:52 am

Hi, I'm new to the forums, but not new to the site. I've been using it to help me grade some of my coins for a couple of years now. After having gone through hundreds of scanned coins on the pages where you can look up the grade value, some of the coins there are absolutely stunning scans! How are these coins scanned and is there any image manipulation to help them look so good? I'd be interested in knowing if I could do something as good with a coin of my own. But I realize that some of these coins are taken from coins at the Mint and scanned for just such purposes so it might be impossible for me to achieve the same results. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks!
Dan

Some of the best pictures on this website comes from either Coinsandcanada.com and Numicanada.com visitors, Bank of Canada official pictures,...
