In 2 weeks of eBay trades...

Post by mkb » Thu Jan 15, 2009 1:06 am

Here are some numbers from the past 2 weeks of eBay trades of Canadian coins and related items:

Items listed: 23,845
Items Sold: 15,034
Dollar Value: $472,000 USD or $588,000 CDN

Of the 15,034 items sold, 90% or 13,574 sold for less than $50.00 USD.

Of the 13,574 items that sold, 1,346 were ICCS, PCGS, CCCS and NGC certified (1c, 5c, 10c, 25c, 50c, $1, and $2) coins. There are other certified coin items in other denominations not included in this total. So about 10% of the sold items were certified coins from those 4 services.

From this it would seem about $18 to $20 million CDN worth of coins and related items are sold via eBay within a calender year. This figure would include major auctions concurrently run through eBay.

Dang. I rather liked the Live Auctions part of eBay with the exception of the amount of increased completed weekly listings. Looks like the major auctions will be going through:

http://www.icollector.com/

and through Heritage Coin.

Additional info :
Yahoo ended auctions on his website on May 8, 2007.
