Re: sale ,roll of royal visitation 1939 medalion incirculate
Are these silver or bronze?
I ask because your price reflects the silver variety, -- the bronze are relatively worthless and the best grade of the lot will only gain you a fiver, if that.
Cheers

Bronze....11.1 gr, 26mm.....uncirculated roll, Ebay $20 to $34 each coin.
Re: sale ,roll of royal visitation 1939 medalion incirculate
The small official 1939 Royal Visit medals struck in bronze came in two varieties. The common 'large busts' and the scarcer 'small busts' (same reverse). Yours are large busts.
Good luck then. I'll be watching to see what interest there is in these. This medallion was the very first "coin" I ever bought at a coin show way back when. That, and a holed 1852 Upper Canada penny, and two sorry-looking half pennies--1843 NB and 1856 NS (don't sue me if I have my dates wrong). I probably paid a dollar for each and have regretted not spending the $4 on something silver that might have increased in value ever since.
But I still have it!

Here is a very nice less-common "small bust" medallion that sold last month for $4.74 shipping included.

Sizes are not in this old Charlton catalogue I keep on my desk for mintage figures...only description comments.
Royal Visit, bronze (small size, large busts) -- UNC 2.50
Variety (small busts) Same Rev. -- UNC 5.00
That's in 1973 mind you...
It's good to know the specifications you posted. I hadn't entirely explored the differences between all the varieties (all silver and bronze types inclusive) so that's appreciated.
The noted 'small busts'; a VF indeed. We will see how much the MS status elevates your little treasures to what the market will bear. Not knocking them... just wondering.
Now you have me curious.
Cheers

1939 medallions side by side
In regards to the differences in sizes between the bronze LB and SB varieties; the large bust has already been mention as being 26mm, although I measured mine to be 25mm; the small bust variety is said to be 31mm, and this I gleaned from an ebay offering of one example. Now, that being said, I'm having a hard time believing that these two in the photo (SB left, LB right) aren't the same size. It could be that the camera is tricking my eyes, but certainly there isn't a 5 or 6mm difference that I can see; although I could just as well be wrong and half-blind.
