What would you pay for an MS64 1930 penny
Re: What would you pay for an MS64 1930 penny
Assuming you are talking about a canadian small cent, trend is $900 for MS-64RD (80% red). If that coin is certified ICCS or CCCS,I would offer 75% after looking at it as we pay for the coin, not the holder. If you do not have access to the coin, make sure the seller accepts return and will refund your purchase if not satisfied.
There are only 7 graded higher by ICCS and 2 by PCGS. You will not see MS-65RD being offered that often so if you want a piece next to top grade,I would buy that coin.
Good luck.

You should buy it ONLY if you can see it in hand or with some excellent photography, unaltered. ALL red coins will eventually turn brown after xx years unless they are lacquered .. and who wants to do that any more? The ink on the cardboard, however, will always still say red. With lighting, nonlinear photo angles and photoshop, you can make almost any 50/50 red/brown look 100 red.

Thnx... this is a MS64 brown... no red in it...
If/when I pick up red coins I like to put them in NGC slabs... the plastics have been approved by the smithsonian and they are watertight...
Until one of the certification companies start putting inert gas like argon in their slabs.. that will have to do for me.
