Not worth getting graded, but nice Unc clip. You can plainly see the Blakesley effect at 180 degree opposite

Re: 1966 Silver Dollar Small or Large Bead
From the photo it looks like it could be a small bead, but the I in Regina not exactly on the bead. It looks like it's just a little to the right of the bead, but still connecting with the bead. But it has been harshly cleaned, so no idea of value. From the wear, exclusive of the cleaning scratches,...

A great CN Journal article
The Dec '24 issue of the RCNA CN Journal has a great article by the Vicky Large Cent King, Rob Turner. Even late arriving, due to the postal strike, it was well worth the wait. Titled "A Numismatic Unicorn", it is a technical evolution of what was going on at the Mint from 1881 into 1882, trying to ...

Re: question on 1875 5 cent coin
The wear makes it tough, but I'd say small date, due to the lack of serif on the 5.

Re: RCM Products
Now others can correct me, but it's general knowledge that most RCM releases can be bought at less than the issue price. There are some exceptions, but some have fallen below the big dealer cost prices.

Re: New Brunswick 1 cent variety?
Nice coin. I'm not sure if you have a 6/6 .... it just looks like a tall 6 with a little die or punch wear/deterioration. I don't think that it's a "new" variety, as there's been 160 years worth of eyes looking. I don't think that there's a large community of NB cent collectors, but a very nice find.

Well, I have the same set, so I'm curious as well. I forget where I got it or what I paid, but it goes with my other Olympic sets. Here's a link to what's on Ebay now. My set is 28 coins proof. Woops, I forgot the link: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=1980+Russia+Olympic+set+coin+28&_sacat=0&_f...

Re: 1899 5 cents, high 9s
They handpunched the last 2 digits onto the date, so you will have spacings and placements all over the map for varieties. All are pretty normal. From your past posts, one of these days, you will find a true new variety, but you need to do some study to differentiate an error from a variety. Check o...

Re: Hello and first post from a newbie!
This was wartime in North America and iron and steel was being used for armament and war vehicles. As a result, the steel that the mint needed for dies was scarce and they used the dies until they almost physically broke apart. You are seeing die cracks and die chips in the die, leaving what you see...

Re: 1899 large cent
The 1899's are one of my favorite Vickies. Griffin listed 8 different repunches for the date, along with the size of the 9, maybe 2 different fonts, the spacings of the last 2 (independently), and slight cants, L & R. You can find either 9 repunched, sometimes both at once, and sometimes the 8 as we...

Re: an anyone tell me What happened to this 25. cent coin
Can you post a good clear photo of both the Obv & Rev on the same axis? On the Obv, the maple leaf would be at 6:00. In your photos above, it looks like the top of the coin is blackened , maybe from heat. Just want to see the exact mirror image of them, to see what on the Rev matches the Obv.

Re: an anyone tell me What happened to this 25. cent coin
It looks like the design of the "D.G." and part of Regina is written on top of what looks like melted metal of some kind. This didn't happen at the mint, unless the planchets are chromed before the strike. If so, then the planchet had the chrome applied haphazardly and then was struck through the ch...

Can't see much from the photo. Does it look like a die chip or rust pit on the die?
