Re: 2016 dîme Missing Beads on the grenetis

The photos are way too blurry, and the blurriness amplified by the lighting source. Sorry, can't help

Re: 2007 10 cent - Strike Error?

To me, the dime had something spilled or dripped on it after the strike. The "contaminated spot", for lack of a better term, is over the top of the strike, with the design "sparkly" as well as the field. Hard telling what happened, but the planchet wasn't like that when it went through the strike.

It looks like both photos are of the same coin. Can't see what you mean.

Wow! What a neat story and odd occurrence. I don't even know where Hawkesbury is. Is there a large Oriental population around there? I think that someone just had some garage-shop fun.

No, it's just one that went through a snow-blower or mower. It's not an error or variety anywhere.

Re: 1920 small cent help, rev. Brockage?

To me, it looks like someone took another cent on top of the first one, Rev to Rev and smacked it hard with a hammer, probably more than once..

From the photos and the shape of the coin, I can't see what you think that it is. It looks like the coin spent some time in a gravel driveway.

Re: newbie in Canadian currency1870 widerim I think

I have heard from others, and it is my opinion, that a coin has to be worth (what a person would buy it at) over $100 to make it worthwhile to send it to a TPG. I think yours would be a "details" coin as well because of the Obverse. I think that it would grade between F-15 and VF-20 and "Trends" for...

Re: Corrosion VS grade

This used to be a fairly active forum, but the site kept dropping off the line for the last month or two. IT was down all the time, so I guess people stopped trying to get in. It looks like they have fixed whatever the problem was. I would guess that it was scammers or hackers that were trying to ge...

Re: 1894 Canada Large cent

It doesn't have the Long cross-line on the E's, so It's not a 3. It's too late a date and rounded chin to be an Obv 2, so it has to be a 4. You can tell a 4 from a quick glance at the portrait, as Vicky didn't like it. People, then and now, call it the "mumps" portrait. They look like fat cheeks. Th...

Re: New series on Vicky cents starting in CN Journal

The newest chapter on the lengthy series that "bosox" has written is a MUST for any Vicky collector. This is the 3rd in the "Uncommon Cents" series and this one dwells only on the '59 recognized varieties and the brass cent. You all should join the RCNA just to be able to put these chapters into you...

Re: Canada 5 Cents 1907 High 7?

I agree with you concerning CaC and what they do and don't list. The varieties that they post on CaC are submissions from everyday collecting folk. They will post the submissions with whatever name that the originator wants, usually. Do NOT take the CaC verbiage as the God's truth. There are many ma...

Re: Canada 5 Cents 1907 High 7?

Well, the CaC website just lists a 7 and a low 7. But then it also says "Because the last digit was added by hand to each die, there are many positions where the 7 can be." So, like many Vicky cents where the last digit was hand-punched, there is no difference in value, regardless the position, unle...
