Re: Does anyone know about these medals?

Don't know about the "Victoria" piece, but the King George V piece is a medal that was in fact presented to dignitaries & members of the Military in 1935. ....You can read all about it in the Canada Government link that is attached to this email. And yes it is Sterling Silver ( 92.5%) https://www.ve...

Re: Does anyone know about these medals?

For The Victoria 60th Year, not sure.... Many different types were made back in the day. Can't find this one.
That hole was definitely punched afterwards & is technically damage. The whole poor quality of the die / strike lends to the possibility of some locally short run strike ?

Re: 10 cent 1989 date error

I wouldn't call this an error. A variety perhaps. It is not a recognised variety according to the price book on this site ( yet anyway..). If it is a variety, value depends on how many are out there & condition. With a mintage of 198 million, it could be common... Or maybe not...More investigation i...

The good tools in this website can answer both your questions. From the grainy photo's F-VF at best...about $2.00 +

Re: From 1981 onward - Uncirculated Sets

Some good points and observations above. But as noted, this is part of the reason this hobby has trouble getting young people & new collectors in general. Too convoluted a system.....uncirculated, brilliant uncirculated, numismatic brilliant uncirculated, proof-like, proof, specimen, etc.... I saw a...

Re: Grading Banknotes

"Original" on a graded banknote means that the note has not been altered or tampered with in any way. Notes that are not given that designation have been pressed or something to appear a better grade than they really are BCS uses the "Original" designation on their notes....PMG uses "Exceptional Pap...

Re: Recently inherited coin collection

This is a very daunting task when you are talking large volume of World coins. I suggest you contact any coin dealers in your area & seek their expertise. Check to see if there are any coin clubs in your area that can offer help. Before you do any of that, organise the collection the best you can by...

Re: Toned coin

Firstly, let's understand that toning is oxidation on the surface of the coin due to being stored in less than optimal conditions. That being said, sometimes toning can be really butt ugly & undesirable. In your case, many collectors would find that rainbow effect toning very desirable & would even ...

Re: 1973 Dollar Bills, Sequential

I agree coinguy. Nevertheless, I love the multi-coloured series of 1969 - 1975. I grew up with that series. Not worth a lot of $$ in this case, but still pretty cool. Keep collecting Sirkit. You will knock one out the ballpark one day....

Re: Is NGC better than ICCS

Sorry for the very late response to this question but feel I must chime in.... As you can see piepala80, opinions are like a-holes....everybody has one. I don't know how experienced you are, but my 2 cents (no pun intended) from a 40 year collector would always be the same to any collector in this w...

Re: Canadian Paper money

I would also consider Kijiji as well for the larger value notes. Your audience will be smaller & it may take longer, but you can avoid the 10 % of sale + TAX eBay charges. I have done it both ways depending on item value and always prefer Kijiji.
Good Luck

Re: Future of Canadian coin collection?

I agree that getting new young blood into the hobby has been challenging. The average attendance age in the last few shows I went to (GTA area) has got to be 60 ish. The focus of my collecting has changed & I have sold off a large part of my 30 year collection. My 22 year old son has some interest, ...
