The 1946C issue is an anomaly. Published official mint reports, as well as unpublished mint accounting records, do not indicate any mintage of this denomination during 1946. top of right line of U is partially erased like the bows above UN. i'd say it was removed by someone. these coins were made at the Heaton Mint and no die without the H is known
