Sounds like the nickel is missing the plating.
That' why the test shows iron and is underweight..
These are easily fabricated and TPGs will no longer grade them.
Value is still 5 cents.

Re: Copper Coin Valuation
I agree eBay "sold" listings are the most realistic prices.
Which company is grading them as MS62 Red ?
You obviously don't have a copy of CCN Trends.
It's all there.
How do you value your coins without the most basic and popular resources?
Seriously, I'm curious.

Re: 1972 voyageur dollar
You didn't bother to read what has been posted.
The reference photo is of a '73 coin, the OP's is a '72.
There is no comparison, the reverse design was changed in '73.

Re: 1972 voyageur dollar
It's not a 1972 dollar obverse in their picture, it's a 1973, they made a mistake.
There are quite a few similar mixups on this site

Re: 1972 voyageur dollar
They are not different from normal. The obverse picture you posted from this site for comparison is actually a 1973 obverse. 1972 obverses are like yours, the change to a modified obverse did not start till 1973 . There were no proof sets back in 1972, yuor coin is from either a PL set or Specimen s...

Re: Why does 97 unc set have specimen finish
Both '96 and '97 unc sets have a specimen finish, and the coins are graded SP.
NBU coins for both those years could be found in "Tiny Treasures" and other sets.
In '98 the sets returned to BU finish.

But true.
Just one of the reasons grading companies no longer certify them.

It's not an error, it's a die chip.

Most likely a plated steel cent.
Possible die chips.
Still no added value.
