Re: Selling Canadian coinage Errors and Varieties

I don't think coins will go the way of the dodo either. People have been collecting them for centuries. One of the nice things about coins is that they don't take up a lot of room, unless you are like me and have piles of them. Other people are getting rid of their stamps so I think it is a good tim...

Re: Selling Canadian coinage Errors and Varieties

I am not sure where you live but I am in B.C. and the market for coins here is not that good. There are all sorts of "collectors" looking to buy your coins, but only if they are silver. You can have a really nice sterling silver item that is over a hundred years old, put it up for sale, and I guaran...

Newfoundland collection

I am considering selling off the Newfoundland part of my collection. I absolutely hate parting with any coins but there is a vehicle that I want and I could use the extra money. Other than the three graded coins in the collection, I am not a grader so I won't attempt to try grading now. I know there...

Re: 2017 Caribou 25 cents , production #

They made 10,000 rolls each of the beaver nickel, schooner dime, caribou quarter, loonie with the loonie and polar bear toonie. The confederation coins were minted for circulation in 2017 instead. So there were 400,000 beaver nickels, 500,000 schooner dimes, 400,000 caribou quarters, 250,000 loonie ...

Re: Canadian 1867-1967 Canadian dollar

I am assuming you have a 1967 silver dollar. If that is the case it is pretty much worth whatever the silver is worth. It is kind of like all of these different quarters that are being put out, a lot of times it is the caribou quarter that is rare. The mint bangs out tons of the commemorative stuff....

garage sale find

I found this at a garage sale a while back. I had to shell out 5 bucks but I guess it was worth it.

Re: 1996 Penny/Dime mutant coin. Help please?

I am by no means an expert. It should weigh 2.5 grams so maybe there is more to it than what I suggested before. Did you try googling to see if in 1996 there were other errors like this one?

Re: 1996 Penny/Dime mutant coin. Help please?

First thing I would do is weigh it, it should be 2 1/2 grams. I have found quite a few coins like that and every one has been plated. I found online where they actually tell you how to do it. Also, if it was the wrong planchet, that would mean it was either bigger or smaller than a 1996 penny planch...

Re: uncut uncirculated 2 dollar bills

There are around 1 billion dollars worth of 1986 $2 banknotes that have never been turned into the bank, unless you had a rare prefix there is nothing special about them. Like I said in my first post, you might get a bit more because you have four uncut bills. I can still find 1937 banknotes at pret...

Re: uncut uncirculated 2 dollar bills

The book value is only around $3-4 each plus maybe a small premium as a novelty.

errors

It is hard to see on the clipped coin but there is some kind of mark opposite of the clip. I am assuming the other is struck through grease.

I know this is the dime section but I included the penny as they both have the same error.

lamination error?

I think this is a lamination error. I have tons of error coins but not always sure of the proper names for them.

The first nickel has doubling and the second one is a 1957 bug tail.

wondering what happened to these coins

I got these nickels from different places over the years. I am assuming that it was some kind of plating error and that there must be more out there because they are different years. Feel free to share your thoughts. Thx
