There can be such variation in pricing on auction sites that there is a broad range of what might be called market pricing. Willing buyer, willing seller I suppose. That's why I was hoping that CaC might provide some expert guidance.
Note also the filled die (plugged 6) in the date in the coin.

Re: planchet error?
The error section of this site shows a 1966 penny with a <5% off-strike to be valued at $4. Are valuations on this site up to date?

Re: Thin planchet coins
Thanks for the thoughts SP67, and the tips on the photos. I'll try to repost them. From what you say though, is it fair to assume that this is a fairly unique error?

Re: Mule or planchet error?
Coinguy and TBH, thanks for taking time on a Sunday to provide input. My father was an adid collector and has a pretty good collection of errors, I think. Problem is that he saved everything that came across his desk and now I'm validating.

Re: Thin planchet coins
It really is a delicate specimen, not very thick at all. I was not aware that planchets could split, another example not on the Canada & Coins site. Hopefully these photos are decent.

Re: Thin planchet coins
Thanks for that, makes sense. Outside of colour and grade determinants, is it safe to assume that the lighter the coin the more value it has? I have a 1985 Canadian penny that weighs in at .6 grams (strike weight apparently was 2.5g) and the diameter looks to be correct. The Reverse is fine but I be...

Re: Mule or planchet error?
My mistake. I did an internet search on a 12-sided coin and it came back with the 1943 3p example. The Obverse image on both the British and Canadian coins are the same. It is, however, 12-sided. I'll post a photo as soon as I figure out how to do it. Thank you.

Thin planchet coins
Hi. Can anyone help me to understand what processing error results in the production of "thin" planchet coins? I don't see this type of error on the Canada and Coins website. Thanks.

Mule or planchet error?
Hi. I have a 1943 brown "penny" coin that is 12-sided. The Reverse has a Canadian 1 cent profile wihle the Obverse appears to be a British 3p profile. Thoughts on whether to classify this as a Mule or a Planchet error? Thanks.

Re: Selling Canadian coinage Errors and Varieties
Thanks for the input Jim J and MakesCents. I think we are going to agree to disagree on these points. Unlike coins, stamps have more value when they have been used. When was the last time you saw a stamp on snail mail correspondence? There is a stamp club in my community and the youngest member is 8...

Re: Selling Canadian coinage Errors and Varieties
Hi MakesCents, thanks for your input. I live in a smaller market so, yes, I appreciate the comment about errors and varieties being a niche market. My personal view is that coin collecting, in general, will soon go the way of stamp collecting. As we move to digital transactions, see a greater influx...

Re: Selling Canadian coinage Errors and Varieties
Thanks for the guidance Bill in Burl. I was hoping there was a known group of collectors that specialized in errors and varieties. I prefer not to work with Dealers, their offer prices are simply too low. I'll start with the BST forum.

Selling Canadian coinage Errors and Varieties
Hi. I'm new to the site. I've inherited a number of Canadian coinage errors and varieties that I now wish to sell. Can anyone tell me if there is an active market out there on the buy side and how those individuals and organizations can be contacted? I have too many coins to post them one at a time....
