Re: 1859 triple G

I took a look at the site you recommended.
The coin is the 1a:2E die pair. The G, and the die cracks on the reverse match perfectly.
Thanks Bill.

Re: 1859 triple G

20230712_214840[1].jpg I took some more pictures of the above coin. The attached photo shows tripling of the upper serif. It was sheer luck that the shadows brought out the detail. The tripling in the photo still does not look like the photo of the triple G seen under variations of the 1859 on this...

Re: 1882 H Obv. 1 double die variation

I am trying to sell the coin discussed in this thread. An expert said, "this coin is one of the 2 over 1 type coins its not listed in any coin trends and wont get a DDO from any grading companies, but is just as hard if not harder to find than the 2/1 DDO" If it's not listed anywhere or recognized a...

1859 triple G

Hi: I found what looks like a 1959 triple G. But the 9 is narrow instead of wide. And the upper serif is doubled, not tripled. Picture #1 shows the doubled upper serif. Picture #2 shows the tripled lower serif. Picture #3 shows the narrow 9. Picture #4 shows the obverse of the coin. The upper serif ...

Re: Continuation of DDO variation.

Correction to original question:

Is c1/c2 = obverse 2/obverse 1.
I ask because the attached pic shows what could be 1882/1881.

Is the denticle doubling punch or die doubling?
Is the doubling of ANADA REGINA punch or die doubling?

Continuation of DDO variation.

My first question was about a possible variation of the 1882 H obverse 2/obverse 1 DDO. The coin was identified as an 1882 H c2/c1 with double denticles. Is c1/c2 = obverse 2/obverse 1. I AShe attached pic shows what could be 1882/1881. Is the denticle doubling punch or die doubling? Is the doubling...

Re: 1882 H Obv. 1 double die variation

Thanks for the info.
The attached picture just barely shows the 2/1. To bad about the gouge.
So it's punch doubling. Akin to machine doubling and strike doubling. Not die doubling.

1882 H Obv. 1 double die variation

I may have an 1882 H obv. 1 double die variation. The doubling is not as pronounced and minimal in "CAN" compared to the traditional double die. I am not sure if it is die doubling or mechanical doubling. NGC graded the coin AU details, obverse scratch. Does anyone have information on this coin?
