Re: BC-56dA
In the Charlton catalog numbering system the suffix upper case A, always indicates replacement notes. That's correct @TBH! Thanks for pointing that out. Getting back to the snapshot of Charlton's pricing table, one can see that there are upper case A (identified replacements) prefixes with the last...

Re: BC-56dA
That's a great picture of the catalogue's pricing panel! It should help explain the premium for the 1986 $5 BC-56dA Knight-Thiessen ANH ( between 3.560M and 3.960M ) perfectly. The first reason is that the ANH prefix is a signature change-over (which started with Bonin-Thiessen up to 3,519,999) whic...

Re: $20 Devils Face note
Nice looking note (from what I can see). Like I wrote in your $2.00 replacement post, very difficult to say (from the quality of the images) but if you use C&C pricing panel you'll find it will range from $65 to $125.00 (VF to EF+) if the note was not pressed. Check out C&C pricing panel for the $20...

Re: 1954 $2 replacement note
It's very tough to approximate the grade of any note without inspecting it in person. Both pictures of your notes (this $2.00 & the Devil's Face $20) are blurry so that makes it very difficult to nearly impossible. From what I can see, I think there may be dark spots on the top border of the $2.00 n...

Re: Coin Auctions
I use the "Outings" section on Numista for shows & to find coin shops anywhere in the world. At the moment it doesn't seem like every Canadian event has been listed (several are missing). Here are their 2 results: https://en.numista.com/outings/index.php?c=canada&r=&s=2025-05-07&e=2025-12-31&bourse=...

Re: From Bank of Canada to Prime Minister
Mark Carney was the governor of the Bank of Canada for 5.5 years so there's hundreds of millions of banknotes with his signature. However, something interesting did happen at the end of his term. The current Bank of Canada governor (Tiff Macklem) was the senior deputy & his and Carney's signatures w...

Re: $2 Devil Face Notes
Why are the prices of the $2 bills so high? ..... I dont understand :| I would speculate that it's due to world demand. Millions of Devil Face notes were issued in the 2 years (1954-1956) they were printed & the modification (eliminating the hair shadows) gave the nickname added authenticity. So, t...

Re: Wonderful hobby of World Paper Money
Several UNC World notes have already been sold to satisfied collectors (including those posted in Dec of 2023). Many more UNC duplicates still available, such as these:

Re: 1957 Series A Star Note Mintage
You need to post a picture (as @Coinguy suggested). Without a picture- it could be anything & that won't help you. Here's a Series 1957 star note I bought for $15 USD (UNC). It has the "Priest Anderson" Signature combo. Numista doesn't provide the # issued but it was likely from a 100,000,000 run (l...

Re: PMG vs BCS vs PCGS vs the others
If it wasn’t for the serial number I would not have believed they where the same note!! @GBELEC what you are seeing is an apparent AU from processing (likely washed & pressed). It doesn't really matter how they achieved the results, at least PCGS got it right (NO PPQ) but it would be a lot more hel...

Re: WTS: Duplicate Canadian & World Notes
Monthly bump. (Most of my 1935 & 1954 Devil's Face duplicates are sold now). Still some nice 1937's Coyne-Towers $1.00 left, including notes like these AU pictured: 0N9726967 crop.jpg 0N9726966_R crop.jpg Some Modified, Scenes of Canada, Birds & plenty of Journey notes available. And many UNC World ...

Re: PMG vs BCS vs PCGS vs the others
we basically have one person only with very high standards offering one opinion. -yes, this is true as far as I know too. I asked him if he certifies World & he does not do that: so it's unlikely that BCS will ever rise to the level of many of the other TPG's. Honestly, after several conversations ...
