The 1948 dollar is the most "copied" Canadian dollar by the Chinese and buyers need to be very sure of what they are buying. The me, the "I's" (that's "eyes, not "L's) on the Obverse are questionable, but the coin needs to be seen in-hand. The different shaped serifs on the I's are one of the marker...

In my opinion, it may be a fake. Just look at the "5"! If there was any way to check the ICCS numbers, then you should. Canadian dollars are frequently copied by two large makers in China and they are getting very hard to ID.

If you want to see what you have exactly and what it's worth, look at the Ebay "sold" link that I put in above. That's what they have actually SOLD for in the last month or so ... NOT a book or asking price.

Or you can just compare the gaps between the 9 and 3 with the gap between the 3 and 2. It's clearly evident.

The 1932 near/far has been discussed at length on any number of coin sites. You don't need to draw lines or take measurements. If the gap between the 3 & 2 and the gap between the 2 and leaf are the same, then it's a near. In a "far 2", the gap between the 3 & 2 will be much closer than the gap betw...
