1861 Nova Scotia one cent with dbling and erosion.
Hi there, I have this 1861 Nova Scotia one cent. It has a lot of doubling in the lettering on the obverse I’m not sure if its repunched or doubling. My camera is not good enough to get most of the doubling but I got a couple. I’m more interested in the erosion and am curious what it could be. It goe...

1968 Ottawa Dime with errors
Hi there, I was looking through my coins and found this one with some errors that are not listed in Coins and Canada. Die looks misaligned with odd denticles and rim doubling. Mostly on reverse but visible on obverse as well. Chips on and around Elizabeth Cuds above ETH II Chips and/or doubling on C...

Re: 1998 full planchet error
I can see why you may think that a vending machine may have done this but... There would be more actual scrapes around the damage looking areas and the coin doesn’t look anything like the one in the link provided I think this is pre mint damage as it is layered in places. Also, the 8 of the date the...

Re: 1903 Canada 5 cents Double large H?
I’m sorry, my camera is clearly not as good as yours. I am using an iPhone and a flashlight through a loupe. Anyway, if you look at the bottom left you can see two black lines. I’m including a few more pictures with different light angles. In these pictures you can see both the glisten on one side a...

1903 Canada 5 cents Double large H?
Hi there, I am having trouble identifying the coin variety. I’m guessing double large H but there are no real conclusive pictures for me to compare it to. It looks like it has some doubling at the bottom left of the H. There is also a pretty large crack starting at the bow and rising past the one in...

Re: 1859 doubled/repunched
Again, thank you. This is far more than I expected and it is quite clear I have a lot of homework to do. Luckily, thanks to Bonnie Henry’s new health guidelines, I have a lot of time to do it.
Have a good weekend.
Craig
Ps, I threw the photo in for the homework effect.

Re: 1859 doubled/repunched
Thanks again.
Is there a way to fast find the Haxby codes besides constantly posting here or manually going through each one as there are a lot.

Re: 1859 doubled/repunched
I will have a look at that site. Also, I have a lot of interesting 1800’s error type coins so I will be posting again soon.
Thank You

Re: 1859 doubled/repunched
You are absolutely correct. Yes, there is a crack at (I’m assuming?) leaf 9. Its the only crack I could find. I’m still reasonably new to this and either missed it or got too excited over the doubling as I love error coins. Anyway, here are some better pictures (I hope).

1859 doubled/repunched
There is a lot of doubling on the obverse and there is obvious doubling in the 5 and 8 and slightly in the 1 on the date. The 9 looks fairly normal. I am wondering what I have here. I included the better quality photos. There is a lot on the coin that my phone camera just won’t pick up through a lou...

Re: 1998 full planchet error
I do agree it was cleaned. 90% of the coins I got in that lot were cleaned. I was very annoyed but that’s not what I’m asking about.
I’m asking about the what looks like a die crack that goes all the way around the outer ring. It doesn’t look like cleaning damage.

1998 full planchet error
Hi there, I got this toonie in a large coin purchase on eBay. It was from a dealer in the US and he had never sold to a Canadian before so he sent it as a special gift. I’m posting it here because I cannot find any information on anything similar and am seeing what people’s thoughts are on it. Thank...
