Re: 1954 5 dollar
I don't have a camera or cell phone. The bill is nice and stiff with no bent/torn corners, but it looks like it had been folded in half in someone's wallet. I have no use for it.

1954 5 dollar
Is there any value in a 1954 Canada 5 dollar note? The Ser# is JX2612297 and signed by Beattie & Rasminsky? It is nice and crisp, but has been folded in someone's wallet I think. tks

Re: 1899 high NINES
There is a "reported" one from a collector that has a single high 9, probably the last one. From the photo of that one, it looks like the first 9 is somewhat high, so maybe the 9's were always high as per norm, but one variety with the last 9 higher. As with much of the coinage, the used the same re...

Re: 1858 20 cent
No, just some of them, but they aren't scarce. They are worth maybe 10% more than a regular one. There are some blundered letters that are worth some $$.

Re: Historical Coin Value for Capital Gains Calculation?
As I stated before in my login in Oct, there was no mention of a capital gains tax for either gold in Toronto or London. If the dealer must file papers then it's your decision to continue. Neither golds (one was a bar) were any problem.

Re: 1945 Canadian nickel
Well, some of the war coins come up from time to time, but we'd need a photo to see how the chrome came off or was minted with none. Here is a link to normal ones, plus please note that the Morris code around the edge spells :"We win when we work willingly". Unless we see the coin, no one can guess...

Re: 1964 canadian nickel beed variations
As stated above, there are denticles, not beads and they kinda look live a zipper. look here: https://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?coin=5-cents-1964&years=5-cents-1953-1964 They are all the same size and shape, but can be a difference in how exactly the coin was struck and how tired/worn ...

Well, you were almost able to post the first coin on it's birthday. It is all crude manmade damage.

Re: My coin collection of canadian sets with some possible erros?
I'm afraid that all your pennies are just one cent, and those with no mint mark are Philadelphia, so nothing is missing. Your '64 nickel is Denver, as the mintmark is at the right base of the monument on the Rev. I saw no coins that were MS if that's what you mean by "SMS"; all circulated some from ...

More on fake toonies
Mike Marshal, the Canadian fake guru who works with the RCMP and Ebay, just posted a new newspaper article on the fake toonies and the RCMP investigations. It's good reading but, I think, vastly underestimate to number of Chinese fakes that entered Canada 2021-2023: https://globalnews.ca/news/108505...

Maybe the nickel plating came loose from the steel/copper and deposited a little in his ear?
