Re: Generally speaking
Welcome aboard. Unfortunately, the English side of this site doesn't get much action. I wish more people would post. I know some very learned people who browse but it seems folks just don't want to ask questions or appear "newbie".

Re: Large 1 Cent questions ?
I live in Burlington and have conducted much research on large cents for the last 30 years. I jointly co-wrote the Vicky large cent variety section in the back for Charlton and have 3-4,000 large cents. Send me a PM.

Re: 1858 Dime
Does the coin have any luster or patina .. or does it appear to be washed out, as in the photo?

Re: ?PEI Coin
I'd agree with the G grade. However you should be able to pick up a nicer grade than that for $5-6 and certainly not for more than $10. I think that I have 7-8 of them.

Yes, and you will find cents and half cents from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick as well in the early 1860's and 5, 10, & 20 cents from New Brunswick in '1862 & 64. Canada needed some kind of money to conduct trade so, like the early Canadian bank and commercial tokens, private coinage was str...

Yes, they are very collectible and reasonable in price for those that haven't been under the ground. There are a couple neat varieties of the coin as well.

I'd say fire or extreme heat. The gouge off the rim in PMD.

Re: 1993 Canadian one cent help please
Yes, there are tools, but it's just as easy to put them in a 2X2 and mark lines 90, 180, 270, 360 and look at them, with one side escatly straight up and down. If you can't eyeball it, look at one side with the other side facing a mirror. I am not real familiar with small cents, but it's important t...

Re: 1993 Canadian one cent help please
I don't think that the coin has any errors, but it's hard to tell from the pics. It looks like all post-mint damage, maybe some of it in a dryer and some time in coke or acid or underground in acidic soil.

Re: 1979 Canadian 5 cents error help
Rather than sending coins in to be graded, post them here and you will get an opinion from some experts here and it won't cost a dime. Unless you are talking about a real scarcity (by that meaning that you could sell it for more than $100) you are wasting money sending it in to be graded .. you woul...

Re: 1979 Canadian 5 cents error help
It looks like post-mint damage and not an error. It just looks like it led a hard life (maybe some of it underground) once it first hit someone's pocket. Sorry!

Re: M.K. Blais Reference Books are back!
Again, I find it well outside the responsibilities of the moderator to recommend or push a reference book that has all kinds of questions surrounding it. As I mentioned before, if the publisher (Brookstone) contacted you about what a great book that it was ... remember that Brookstone has ONE employ...
