Re: Price Book for Canadian coins
Go to the CoinsandCanada website homepage and hit the 'coins' link, but don't believe prices posted in ANY book .. you can't sell a coin to a book. It takes someone with a wallet.

Re: 1946 Canada Half
1946 is my birth year. I took a 1946 dollar and inlaid it into the handle of one of the canoe paddles that I hand carve ... everything is done with a spoke shave(s) and nothing more mechanical than that. They look nice ... maybe a 50 cent would be even better .. not so big. Anyway ... nice find

Only by XRF to tell for sure. There are many many many '59's that appear a little yellow .. but it's caused by any one of 20 household cleaning agents that you can find under most anyone's kitchen sink. There are a few "general" markers, but a photo would tell us for sure.

Re: 1965 Canada PL Dollar -- Variety.
For $13, it could have hammer marks on it and still be OK. The 2012 Charlton has the silver dollar variety section in the back .. there should be plenty on the secondary market for less than $10.

Re: 1965 Canada PL Dollar -- Variety.
Small beads, pointed. Pick up a copy of the 2012 Charlton (66th edition) if you are going to collect these. You can tell which of the beads by looking at how the I and right leg of Regina line up with the bead above. Directly under= small, just left= med, right or between beads= large. Don't be buyi...

Re: 1882H Large Cent
I would go to as many larger coin shows as you can, if you live fairly close to a larger city. Early on, I used to get lots of things from shows but, then again, at that time a good portion of the coins were raw .. now it's almost all TPG stuff, but many dealers still hold boxes of raw stuff behind ...

Without seeing it, I can only guess that it's a homemade sandwich job. Look at the edges and see if it's 2 coin halves soldered/glued together.

Re: 1882H Large Cent
I have probably looked at maybe 5-10,000 1882's, since I live in the T.O. area and used to attend nearly every show within 60 miles.... and have been an avid variety collector/researcher for the last 20 years. I would guess that I personally have well over 400 1882's, all but 150 or so are Obv 1's, ...

1882H Large Cent
From another board (CCF), someone was asking about the 1882 large H over small H "variety". The H/H is NOT a variety, since ALL 1882's have a large H over a small H ... Coins and Canda is wrong in their pricing or ID'ing it separately. I have looked at well over 1000 1882's, as has a few o...

Coin site mods
The CanadianCopperCoin site will be undergoing some modifications .. it's for ALL Canadian coins, tokens and notes, not just copper. Anyway, I know some of you here drop in, so just go to "news" or "rules" there tom see what's going to happen. Thanks

Re: 1874H-Crosslet 4
From actual wear-wise, I would say VF-30, maybe a bit better. However, there is lots of corrosion, of which the purple is a part. It especially has been cleaned right around the 4 previously .. probably to see what it was. It may have been buried and then cleaned to see what was there. Fishsclaes ar...

Re: 1874H-Crosslet 4
I don't know if Charlton had an annual issue with the 5 cent silvers in the variety section in the back. As far as I know, there are only the regular and the crosslet 4 and no 4/4, but I could very well be wrong. Your coin just looks like a crosslet.

Re: Down by the BAY
I deal almost exclusively in Vicky Large Cent varieties, many of which are not formally published. As a general rule, I'll pay no more than 80% of Trends at shows and about the same on Ebay, but Ebay I include the shipping. Once you get above a certain scarcity level, though you can throw away the p...

As I posted before, I was only trying to tell you that the description that you gave was incorrect ... you put things in there that couldn't possibly be true. I'm not omnipotent nor am I narcissistic (by the way narcissistic self-gratification is a double negative since narcisism is already self-gra...
